Winter Break post

Part 1 of how many others I feel like doing.

My "local" hobby store, Hobby Works of Rockville, is finally stocking model kits again. It made me so happy to see a shelf full of them when I walked in. I couldn't help myself; I had to buy something to support it. Grabbed two action bases for my MGs and a HG Nirvash Type Zero. I'm not planning on painting the Nirvash unless it was molded in some ugly shades or just looks wrong.

Oh right, I left my modeling supplies in my apartment so I can't even build the kit while I'm down here. Oh well.

Tis the season

Winter season is upon us again. You know what that means, Christmas specials time.

Then again, that also means I'm reminded of the Gundam 0080 "Christmas special". I know I'm gonna have to rewatch it again but that doesn't make me any more happy. I shed some real tears the first time I finished it. I don't cry over the ending anymore but it is still emotionally powerful. It's not an ending that is easily forgotten.

Scribblenauts

Various highlights from the new DS game, Scribblenauts:

• Riding around as a ninja on top of a cow
• Having dingos chase and eat babies

• Using a crane to distract the goalie so I could get the soccer ball in between the goal posts.

MG MS-06F Zaku II 2.0

Finished painting my Zaku II. Couldn't make a decent paint scheme with the colors I had left so I just bought a fresh can of paint. It allowed me to go over some parts that either got scratched or didn't have good coverage the first time through. Overall, I like how it turned out.

Too bad I don't have a working camera on me. Otherwise I'd be posting pictures of my finished models.

Ran out of light green spray paint just before finishing the paint on the last 4 pieces of my MG Zaku II. Not really worth buying more paint just for the 4 parts. Tamiya paints aren't the cheapest things around.

Time for a custom color scheme.

Simple Things

I like to enjoy the simple pleasures in life.

Like streaming episodes of Stargate SG-1 from Hulu while working on my Gundam models.

My MG Zaku II 2.0 is almost done being painted. It doesn't look too bad.

MG RX-78 NT-1 "Alex" Gundam

Finished painting my MG Alex. Gonna do the decals after the paint finishes curing.

Basically did the same color scheme it came with. I gave it a much darker blue than it originally started with. It's more like the dark blue the Titans use. Also, I used a darker orange for the thrusters and vents instead of the yellow it came in. It matches the dark blue well.

Note for self: be sure to use primer on parts that you plan to do masking on. The lacquer paint doesn't adhere well to the plastic and will easily come off from using tape.

Still have to settle on a color scheme for my Zaku II 2.0 though...

Gunpla pt.3

Got some paint to paint my Alex with. Haven't bought anything to do panel lines with yet though. Also, still can't decide on a color scheme for my Zaku. If the two shades of green, or any color I happen to settle on, aren't just right, the whole thing won't look good at all. Gonna have to hunt around for some good color combos.

Just realized that both Ponyo and District 9 are coming out at the same weekend. Looks like I'll be spending my weekend at the movies.

SRW@G Mission 1

As per request, I've uploaded the first mission to @G. I'll continue to upload the earlier missions I haven't covered along with my current run through, which is at mission 16.

Also known as Super Robot Wars Alpha Gaiden Mission 15: I'll Give You Power...

Pretty simple mission. In the first part just destroy all the Zakus within 3 turns in order to get the SP point. In the second half just kill as many Zakus as you can and wait out the turn till Garrod and the GX use the Satellite Cannon.

Also known as Super Robot Wars Alpha Gaiden Mission 14: Is the Moon Out?

Well, here's the video for mission 14. The Battle Mastery point for this one is very simple. It'd be silly not to get. As for the ending move, I really didn't think I'd land the blow, or even get the critical. Really glad I did otherwise the video could of been 10 minutes longer as he'd keep defending against all of my attacks.

SRW@G Mission 13

Finally added a new video. It's of Mission 13 in which the Iron Gear gets a fancy new laser cannon from those friendly Innocent. Let the Pew Pew adventures begin.

SRW@G Mission 9

This is the third SRW@G video I've uploaded. It's of the 9th mission in which the Preventers battle in front of the Macross. I probably won't do a "let's play" of this game since, as you can see by the video, the missions can take quite some time to complete. I'll still upload various missions that I find interesting along the way.

SRW@G Mission 7

Uploaded a video for Mission 7. This is probably one of my favorite missions in the early part of the game. It's like you're playing through Endless Waltz, but you don't have to be a sissy passifist.

Decided to record my current run through SRW@G. Currently at the moon cradle defending it from Mariemaia's forces. This is probably my 5th take on the video. Other times I've either failed or had some sort of technical blip which I had to restart the level to fix.

I'm going to continue loading more videos from the Karaoke mode in Super Robot Wars Alpha Gaiden. If I ever get the interest to do so, I may also do a "Let's Play" of it. There doesn't seem to be much "Let's Play" for the Super Robot Wars games.
